| It's a dank cave. There's no music, just the sound of rushing water. Two Demon thugs stand guard inside. | |||

| They're not too tough, but physical attacks don't work well, like the one goblin in town said. Enemies throughout the cave are similarly resistant to physical attacks, but easily dispatched with magic. Good thing the party just learned to use magic... and if you run low on MP, just leave and head through the Gate for the free recovery, because the monsters never come back once beaten. Now that magic is thrown into the mix, cooperative techniques start getting more interesting. As the characters learn more individual techniques, a total of eight each, they learn more combined techniques, eventually totalling three for each pair (with the exception of one optional character). Additionally, every group of three that includes Crono (and excludes the optional character just mentioned) can learn a three-person technique, but most of those require high-end techniques and won't be available for a while. Deep into the cave, a beast with a spikey back, big teeth, and huge claws approaches. |

| Of course, it's another boss battle. Like the normal enemies, but moreso, magical attacks are the only way to cause significant damage to Hekeran, the creature that just attacked. The beast doesn't hurt much most of the time, but sometimes goes into a counterattacking stance, which is a good time to heal. | |||
