| The party lands in a pillar of light in a sort of room. The room has three pillars of light, including the one the party arrived on. 2-13 時の最果て (The Farthest Reaches of Time), a rather dreamlike tune, plays. There seems to be nothingness beyond the room. | |||

| They walk to a second room, connected by a walkway. This one has a door on one side, a staircase to nowhere on another, healing and save points, a strange object in the corner, and an old man with a cane and trench coat leaning on an old-style streetlamp in the middle of the room and sleeping. The party tries talking to him. | |||
| 老人「おや、またお客さんだ……。 | Old Man: My, visitors again.... | OLD MAN: Ah, more guests...! | |

OLD MAN: Why, this is "The End of Time," of course! All lost travellers in time end up here! Now, where are you from? |

Old Man: When you enter a space-time distortion with four or more people who live in different times, the dimensional field distorts.... However, the space-time distortions in this place are many. There are even those who, like you, appear here by chance.... Perhaps something is exerting an effect on all of time.... |
OLD MAN: When 4 or more beings step into a time warp, the Conservation of Time theorum states that they will turn up... ...at the space-time coordinates of least resistance. Here. Disturbances in the space-time continuum have increased recently. Far too many folks are just popping in here... I fear something is having a powerful effect on the very fabric of time... |

Old Man: Such a situation is harsh.... What, you don't need to worry. This place leads to all times.... If you wish to, you can summon your companions at any time. But time travel is unstable. You should always act with three people. |
OLD MAN: It is pretty bleak here... But not to worry. All time periods connect here... You can visit your friends whenever you wish! But you can never travel in groups greater than 3... |

| 老人「お前さん達がやって来た場所に 光のはしらがあるじゃろう。 あれは、あちこちの次元のゆがみと ここ、時の最果てをつなぐものじゃ。 一度通った事のあるゲートからは いつでもここに来られるじゃろう。 光にかさなりＡボタンを押せば ゲートにもどれる。 じゃが、そこのバケツからつながる ゲートには気をつけるんじゃな……。 |
Old Man: There are pillars of light where you arrived, correct? Those are the things that connect scattered dimensional distortions and here, the Farthest Reaches of Time. Most likely, you can come here any time from a Gate that you have already crossed once. If you overlap with the light and press the A button, you can return to the Gate. But, be wary of the Gate that connects from the bucket over there.... |
OLD MAN: You see those lovely pillars of light? Those hook you up to different eras. Once you've been through a Gate, you can always use it to come here. To use a Gate from here, step into the light and press the A Button. But beware of the Gate which leads from that bucket... |

| 老人「そう、せく事もあるまい。 上のドアの向こうにも 寄って行ってみなされ。 | Old man: Ah yes, there isn't likely to be any reason to hurry. Try visiting the other side of the door above. |
OLD MAN: Don't be in such a rush! Before you go, take a peek inside the room behind me! |

| The player gets a choice of 強そう (looks strong) and 弱そう (looks weak). The choice doesn't actually affect anything, even the dialogue, but it's there anyway. | |||

Spekkio: Hm? You guys have it. Power of the heart.... That's it, the old man ouside let you pass into here because of that. Long before you guys were born.... there was a kingdom that prospered by magic. In that world, everyone used magic. But that country drowned in magical power and was destroyed.... After that, people became unable to use magic. Except for the Demons. But, you guys have it. Strength of the heart. Magic is the heart's strength, power. Magic consists of the four powers Sky, Dark, Fire, and Water. |
SPEKKIO: You are strong of will...! That's why the Old One let you through. Long before you were born... ...there was a kingdom where magic flourished. Everyone there could use it! But in time, people began to abuse their powers. It got so bad that no one was allowed to use magic except wizards. But you have it...determination, I mean. Magic needs power of the heart. It needs inner strength. Magic is divided into 4 types: Lightning, Fire, Water, & Shadow. |

| I probably don't need to point out that the history lesson got mangled in the NA version. As mentioned earlier, 魔族 doesn't seem to have the same connotations as 'demon', but I can't think of anything in English that's any better. |

SPEKKIO: That's the biggest toy I've ever seen... Hey, you're not alive, are you?! You've got great strength, however, since I can't measure your inner character, I can't give any magic to you. But your laser weapons will suffice. They inflict "Shadow" type damage. |

| I'm pretty sure that's gibberish, although ハラヘッタミタ～イ could mean 'looks like I'm hungrrrrry'. Crono sticks his arms up as his clothes and hair ripple as though in a strong updraft. What looks like a small cyclone circles him, with accompanying wind noises. He pumps his fist in his victory pose, 2-15 ファンファーレ３ (Fanfare 3) plays, and his first spell is added to his skill list. |

| Spekkio is a tough opponent. He's immune to physical attacks, and uses powerful magic. But now, the party has magic of their own. Crono can call down thunder from the heavens, Marle can freeze things, and Lucca can toss fireballs around. Even so, don't expect to win your first time trying. If the party wins, they get a small prize. If they lose, it doesn't matter. Spekkio's form changes periodically depending on the party's levels. Each form is harder than the last, but gives a better prize for winning. |

| 老人「おーい。 ほ、やはりな。 はるか昔の人々はみなそういった力を 持っていたもんじゃ。 そう、はるか昔……な。 お前さん達、何かとてつもない事を やらかそうというみたいじゃが まずはお前さん達の時代に もどってみてはどうかな……？ 急がばまわれ…… ここにいると、そんな言葉の意味も よくわかってくるものじゃ……。 何かあったら、いつでも来なさい。 私がお前さん達の時間の道しるべに なってやろう。 |
Old Man: Hey. Ho, just as I thought. All the people of the distant past had such power. Ah yes, the distant past.... You guys look as though you're thinking of doing some unreasonable thing, but perhaps you should first try returning to your era....? Less haste, more speed.... When you're here, you come to understand well the meaning even of words like those.... If anything comes up, come any time. I shall be a guide to time for you. |
OLD MAN: Hey. Well, well! People who lived long ago ALL enjoyed such powers... Now, I know you are itching to go ripping back and forth through time, but first you need to return to your era. And you must hurry. The longer you remain here, the harder it will be to change that which must be changed... Stop by whenever you're in the area! |

| More mix-ups in the NA version. The old man isn't saying to hurry. In fact, he's saying almost the opposite. Ironically, I have a better idea of what 急がば回れ (isogaba maware) really means than of "Less haste, more speed", the English equivalent listed in my dictionary. Translated from the J-J dictionary on Goo, 急がば回れ means "When in a hurry, rather than a dangerous shortcut, taking the long but safe main road is faster in the end. An admonition to take the safe and steady way." In other words, his point appears to be that, instead of trying something brave but foolish right away, they should take time to investigate and prepare. And so they head for the room where they arrived. The three pillars of light are now active and display information on where they go. |
